Responsibilities:
Management & Leadership
Ensure analytical team’s delivery to project’s portfolio of the centre from early stage to product development
Responsible for nutrients test method development and method transfer to third party and laboratories within Abbott
Identify and build capability (facility, equipment, personnel etc) in the nutrients lab to support achieving business objectives for the Centre
Liaison with affiliates and external partners to drive impactful innovation in nutrients test methods
Implement technical exchange with internal &external labs
Management of general lab processed required for day to day efficient operation and ensure compliance to all applicable safety and quality system requirement.
Technical and Performance Support
Develop &Modify nutrients test method for new formula and special matrices
Co-ordinate / approve nutrients test method validation and transfer to 3rd party laboratories in the region or laboratories within Abbott
Liaise with regulatory affairs, product developer and project managers to ensure nutrients test methodology meet applicable regulatory requirement for product registration and importation in China.
Set-up laboratory processes to ensure efficient laboratory operation to meet business needs
Actively identify areas for improvement in laboratory processes and implement new measure to improve efficiency.
Maintain nutrients lab to operate properly &safety
Knowledge Management and People Development
Actively support talent development by providing customized training program.
Skills
Good communication skills on technical area, major interface between functional departments and external labs
Fluent in use of computer programs in a lab setting, e g., PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
Can act autonomously.
Is challenging & proactive
Is pragmatic
Good communicator, coach / influence
Fluent in English
Requirements:
Qualifications
at least holding a master degree. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Food Science (emphasis in analysis) required
Min 3 years experiences in nutritional and food analysis
Breadth of experience with modern analytical methods of analysis, e.g., ICP, HPLC, LC-MS/MS, capillary GC, Near IR, etc.
Knowledge of regulations for food and nutritional product safety and testing methods in China.
Experience with quality system for testing laboratories desired
Affiliations with Professional Societies or Committees, e.g. Codex, AOAC, ISO, BIS, PFA, SSMS, SINC etc a plus
Knowledge
Understanding of quality and safety standards and guideline
Experience in setting up and running laboratories, getting permits, etc. for laboratories
Good understanding of business processes in a global organization
